OPTOMAP RETINAL IMAGINGWe are proud to announce the addition of Optomap retinal screening technology to our practice. We are concerned about retinal problems including macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal holes or detachments and systemic diseases such as diabetes, stroke and high blood pressure. These conditions can lead to serious health problems including partial loss of vision or blindness, and often develop without warning and progress with no symptoms. Optomap is fast, easy and comfortable and will not require dilating drops (in most cases), which result in blurred vision and sensitivity to light.

LASIK It is an acronym for laser in situ keratomileusis, which means to reshape the cornea without disturbing the adjoining tissue. Translation of these Greek words: in situ means “in the natural or normal place,” kerato means “cornea,” and mileusis means “to shape."
Surgeons use a tiny high-precision instrument called a microkeratome to separate the layers of corneal tissue and create a thin flap on the surface of the eye. This flap is folded back and the excimer laser is guided to gently reshape the underlying tissue. The corneal flap is replaced leaving the eye almost untouched. The cornea’s new shape is what improves vision. The quality of the corneal flap is crucial to minimizing complications and achieving excellent results. Many surgeons recognize that creating an exceptional high quality flap is 80% of the procedure’s success. EARLY DETECTION of GLAUCOMA with the GDxVCC While the three most common tests for glaucoma (the pressure check or puff test, visual field analysis, and optic nerve evaluation) are useful, they often do not detect glaucoma early enough.
The GDx VCC is the only glaucoma detection technology available that directly and objectively evaluates the nerve fiber layer of the eye. This test is comfortable, does not require drops or pupil dilation and provides results for both eyes within three minutes.

Complete Eyecare
Your eye examination consists of various tests to evaluate the health of your eyes and to determine the prescription lenses needed for the best possible sight. We want you to know that our office will refer any patient to the appropriate specialist if we detect or suspect any pathology or visual problems treated by us.
The doctors and staff are committed to providing excellence in eyecare. We are constantly investing in new "high tech" instrumentation to allow us to serve you better. In our office you will find computerized auto-refractor, and visual filed perimeter. We offer photography of both the back and front of the eye, through retinal fundus photography and slit-lamp imaging systems. To assist us in the complete care of our contact lens patients, we utilize corneal topography to map the eye's front surface.
Routine Eye ExamsRoutine eye exams are one of the best ways to protect your vision. Knowing who to see for an exam, what's involved in the exam and how to prepare for the exam will help you get the most out of your visit.
An eye exam is one of the best ways to protect your vision because it can detect eye problems at their earliest stage — when they're most treatable. Regular eye exams give your eye care professional a chance to help you correct or adapt to vision changes. And eye care specialists can give you expert tips on ways to reduce eyestrain and how to care for your eyes.
Children's Eyecare
It is important to keep a close watch on your child’s eyes through every stage of life. From birth through the school years, your child’s eyes change dramatically. To protect your child’s eye health and ensure no potential eye problem goes unnoticed, we thoroughly tests your child’s eyes at each examination.

Wave Contact Lenses: The Most Advanced in the World Just as no two fingerprints are the same, neither are two eyes. This is especially true with your cornea, the clear tissue where your contact lens sits. The cornea may look smooth and regular, but in fact its shape and texture are irregular.
Wave Contact Lenses are designed like no other lens. A special camera called a corneal topographer creates a topographic map that digitally describes your cornea with thousands of numbers. With Wave's special design software, your practitioner uses the data from the map to create a custom lens that follows almost every tiny curve and shape on your cornea. In the width of a hair, there may be as many as 10 distinct curves on the back of the lens. Wave lenses know exactly how the central and peripheral cornea are shaped. The fit follows the shape leading to a better more comfortable lens.
With so many curves, Wave lenses offer unrivaled comfort and sharper optics. Many unsuccessful contact lens wearers are successful Wave lens users.
Bifocal patients, keratoconus patients, transplant patients, post refractive surgery patients and other difficult-to-fit eyes should consider Wave Contact Lens Designs.

Nike MaxSight Sport-Tint Contact Lens
In sport, visual acuity and protection can mean the difference between winning and losing. Light conditions have a dramatic effect on how the human eye perceives and, subsequently how the body reacts and performs -- in the sun glinting over the upper deck, shallow contrast on a putting green, or quickly adjusting from shadows to light on a tennis court or mountain bike single track.
Nike knows that in athletic competition, even small advantages are critical to performance. Nike has spent the last eight years exploring the human eye to understand the science of vision in the development of the new Nike MaxSight Sport-Tint Contact Lens.
What It Is
Nike MaxSight, developed in partnership with Bausch & Lomb, is a tinted soft contact lens that behaves like sunglasses, reducing glare and filtering out 95% of UVA and UVB and more than 90% of blue light. But because the lens rests directly on the eye, there’s virtually no distortion as with standard sunglasses. Athletes get the same clear view at all angles.
Plus, Nike MaxSight eliminates the environmental effects that plague sunglasses like fogging, scratching, additional weight, or nosepieces and frames to obstruct vision. There’s no obstruction from the edge of the lens, the frame or the nosepiece, because they don’texist. And there are no pressure points and no slippage. Max Sight also eliminates light leakage, reducing the need to squint, allowing the eye to relax and perform more naturally.
Nike MaxSight is, in effect, one giant visual sweet spot.
How They Work
Nike’s patented Nike MaxSight Light Architecture™ selectively alters specific wavelengths of light within the visual spectrum to enhance key elements in sport. The athlete gets crisp, clear vision without anything getting in their way. By removing most of the blue light, contrast and clarity are enhanced — a decided advantage for any competitor. For sports not conducive to eyewear, such as golf, tennis and soccer, athletes will see marked improvement, even on days where the sun’s not at its brightest.
With Nike MaxSight, there’s minimal squinting in bright light, and quicker visual definition when going from bright light to shadows.
DEFINITION OF OPTOMETRIC PHYSICIANOptometric physicians are independent primary health care providers who examine, diagnose, treat and manage disease and disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures as well as diagnose related systemic conditions. We work closely with your primary care physician and internist, and other specialties to co-ordinate total medical eye care.
